What is MICR Printing?

MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition which is a special font used to print financial institution and account information on checks. When MICR is utilized, all check
information required by a financial institution to recognize a check as a negotiable instrument is printed on a blank sheet of check paper. This information is printed with magnetic ink or toner that is magnetized as the check travels through financial institutions and clearing house systems. This allows the information to be read by machines called sorters at very high speeds

Why is the Cobra MICR Check printing solution different from laser or form fed printers with pre-printed stock?

Cobra MICR Check Printing uses a secure numeric font that is extremely difficult to alter without detection. Even something as common as photocopying alters the look of the font. In addition, there is a reissue check log in Cobra Banker® which provides a list of reissued checks, when the feature “Reissue MICR Check” is used. All this helps reduce the probability of fraud along with the “image readable secure font”, which is a black on white machine readable font for extra security.
MICR interfaces with our Cobra Banker software to ensure a easy and smooth run facility.

What is Cobra MICR’s check writing security and cost savings?

Prevention of fraud through the increased security is also a major cost saving measure. Below are statistics on forgery and fraud that facilities can avoid with the help of MICR Check Printing.
